Using Tomcat AND Introducing MIDP 2

by
ONJava Newsletter for 12/19/2002

Dear Reader,

ONJava.com's Using Tomcat columnist James Goodwill returns to continue his coverage of the JK 1.2 connectors. This week he has a tutorial that shows how to configure the Apache Jakarta Tomcat container to deploy JSP and Servlet-based applications on Microsoft's IIS server.

Also this week, O'Reilly Network contributor Timothy Appnel reviews the new Mobile Information Device Profile (MIDP) 2.0 standard. MIDP 2.0 improves on the original specification for the open development platform of mobile devices by introducing secure networking, extended network connectivity, and audio and gaming capabilities. In this article, Timothy highlights these new capabilities and briefly discusses their significance to developing next- generation mobile applications.

To conclude the week, we begin a new book excerpt series from O'Reilly's new "Java Enterprise Best Practices." In it, author Jason Hunter talks about Servlet best practices; specifically, he shows how to work effectively with Servlets.
